Mike has been writing software for over two decades. He joins 38 Studios from Etsy.com where he led the development of several middle-layer applications that handle the half billion monthly pageviews of the site. Prior to Etsy, Mike spent a decade as both a contributor to and leader of various technology teams.
In the early 90s Mike wrote and ran a MUD called Multiverse. Online games such as Ultima Online and Everquest inspired him to build Multiverse3D. After several iterations, MV3D emerged as an open source virtual world simulation framework. In more than ten years of MV3D development, Mike wrote his own software renderer, hardware renderer, physics engine, and 3D modeler. Outside of work, Mike is an avid gamer. He plays LARPs, tabletop games and, of course, video games. He also loves to compose music and create independent films.
